Stacey's
academic accomplishments could easily make her PortiCo's brainiest
staffer. With a doctorate in Social Psychology, specializing in
developmental issues, Stacey has contributed to PortiCo Research
since 1996 as the company's Director of Research Analysis. She regularly
teaches social and developmental psychology and research methods
at New York University, teaches a doctoral seminar in social psychological
theory at Teacher's College, Columbia University, and has taught
gender studies and feminist theory at the New School for Social
Research. She also acts as a consultant for the Center for Children
& Technology, a Greenwich Village-based nonprofit research group
that explores ways to enhance educational equity and technology
use for kids from underserved communities.
But
Stacey is no pedagogue. Away from PortiCo, Stacey plunges into the
world of Lindy Hop, a dance born at the Savoy Ballroom in 1930s
Harlem that became the craze later known as Jitterbug. Stacey has
performed at such swing venues as Irving Plaza and the 92nd Street
Y, and served as DJ for the New York Swing Dance Society. Thanks
to her passion for jazz and swing, we've all elevated our musical
IQ by a few notches.
